Each animal rescued by FFAR lives in a loving foster home and is guaranteed a place to stay for as long as that animal is in the foster program
Our foster families open their hearts and homes to animals in need and offer them a safe and loving environment. They spend ample time with each animal, assessing their individual personalities and determining what type of permanent home environment would be best for the animal and ensuring that the dog or cat is a good match for the new family.
Foster families provide a means to house, train and nurture dogs and cats for adoption. They carefully socialize their fosters and reinforce basic obedience.
Volunteer foster families must be willing and able to devote time each day to oversee the complete care of their foster including: feeding, grooming, socialization and exercise.
Our foster homes and volunteers are the backbone of our organization - the more foster homes we have, the more dogs and cats we can rescue.
If you would like to foster dogs with FFAR we suggest you read through the Frequently Asked Questions page and then, if you think fostering is right for you, click on the button on the right of this page to submit a Foster Application form. The application is not a commitment, we know you will have a lot of questions and we will meet with you to discuss your questions or concerns. All our new foster parents are given training and help.
Fostering these animals is a incredibly rewarding and memorable experience - we look forward to hearing from you!
If you would like to foster CATS, please send us an email and we will contact you asap.
Fostering with FFAR
We do ask that you are 21 or over to foster dogs or cats
Rescue dogs never forget their foster parents! Here is our first Bailey who was rescued by FFAR some time ago - he was visiting Petsmart with his dad, spotted his former foster mom and you could tell the minute the lightbulb went off and he recognized her - he was overjoyed to see her. They love their new families and are happy to leave with them but they never forget who rescued them.
