How long in rescue? 10+ years

Jobs at FFAR: Dog Program Coordinator, Webmaster, occasional Dog Foster, Board Member

I have been involved in rescue since 2003 when, new to the North Texas area and having spare time, I volunteered to help a rescue group with a fundraising event.  I had the important job of giving out the donuts!   But that was just the beginning, and gradually I became more and more involved in rescue.

I have always had a soft spot for dogs and cats and they have been a part of my life, but this was the first time I had first hand knowledge of the huge need for rescue groups.

I was shocked at the shelter statistics, especially in the D/FW area, and knew that I had to do what I could to help.  From that time on I have been participating in most aspects of rescue.

I enjoy volunteering with like-minded people.  Even though the work is not always easy, the rewards make it worthwhile and I hope to continue for many years.

I currently live in Belton with my husband Gary and our three dogs (all rescued of course). Jack (red terrier), Baxter (brindle terrier) with Mickie - white terrier (RIP December 2015).  We also have a black and white ShihTzu named Finnie.
